Surgical loupes can be difficult when it comes to finding the right pair. We try to make it as easy as possible for you with our 1 week demo program. After trying the loupes, you will realize the advantage of using them as they help examination and diagnosis. Our loupes will help you reduce neck, eye and back fatigue often affiliated with other loupe systems.
When looking for loupes, the following factors need to be considered:
1. Magnification: Select the lowest magnification that will meet your needs. Consider the nature of the work. Higher magnifications (e.g. 4X +) are used for the more intense surgical procedures and lower magnifications (e.g. ~2.5X) for less invasive procedures. Please see below for recommendations.
2. Field of View: Also known as the "Field width." It is the diameter of the site that can be seen through the loupes. The lower the magnification, the larger the field of view. Wider field of views are preferred when there is a lot of shifting between the naked eye and loupes so eye fatigue is minimized.
3. Working Distance: This is the appoximate distance between your eyes and working area. Find your most comfortable posture that you have while working and measure it.
4. Depth of Field: This is the range between the nearest and the farthest image that stays in focus without moving the head. A larger depth of field is good when needing to exam, diagnose or operate on a field that has a large distance between what needs to remain in focus during the procedure.
